For those of you worried that ‘Bang Data’ was going to be a piece of particularly lewd Star Trek fan-fiction, stay calm. (Is that the best pun we’ve ever made on this blog? I think it might well be).
We’re happy to report that Bang Data are infact a brilliant SF musical trio whose blend of bilingual rap-rock really deserves your attention. Fronted by Nicaraguan rapper Deuce Eclipse – who started his first rap group way back when he was in sixth-grade – they provide a heady brew of form-shifting and international flavour. Expect slick guitar, gritty synth, and cool electro-acoustic rhythms.
By the way, this awesome track was also featured in the soundtrack to an episode of ‘Breaking Bad’ (very possibly the greatest TV show ever made. Yes, better than The Wire and Mad Men. That good.). Season 4, Episode 10, if you want to check it out. After watching this video first, of course …
There’s something about watching truly talented musicians in action that leaves the viewer reeling – how can anyone have such a sheer command of their instrument? Guitarcore maestros LoNero are very likely to provoke a similar reaction. In this exclusive performance of ‘Eden’, you can watch this California-based four-piece grapple with their guitars (and drums) as though they had suddenly sprouted extra limbs.
If anything can kick a bit of adrenaline into your Monday, trust us: it’s gonna be this.
Dogs are extremely loyal creatures who proudly stand by their owners, so the title of this song by Will Sprott is an entirely accurate one – dogs really will love you when nobody else will. Well, apart from those yapping little Chihuahuas that rich ladies carry around in handbags. Those things just point blank don’t have souls.
Anyway, we’d probably better focus on the song rather than rambling on about dogs – because it really is a great one, performed by the inimitable Mr Sprott himself and featuring the most unique assortment of backing singers you’re ever likely to clap eyes on. It’s all there in the latest installment of ‘The Neighbourhood’, brought to you with our good buddies at Audyssey and Noise Pop.
Oh – and if you like the song, you can download it for free right here.
We’ve been on something of a BAMM.tv roll recently - throwing goodies your way like a summertime Santa Claus (and trust us when we say that big white beard really itches in the sweltering July heat). Now here’s another present for you to unwrap … erm, in a virtual sense. Alright, we’ll stop it with the odd metaphors now – we’ve got another great video for you, and here it is.
The video in question? Why, it’s part six of our exclusive documentary ‘Knock It Loose – a movie which follows BAMM rock faves The Soft White Sixties on their first ever West Coast tour, and is definitely one of the coolest and most ambitious things we’ve ever done. If you’ve missed any other episodes of this, you need to catch up pronto. If you haven’t, then feast your eyes on the newest installment …
We’ve treated you to a previous performance of genre-hopping electro-rock duo Niteppl before (if you didn’t see it, you need to check out ‘Machine’) and because we’re already in a partying mood – despite it only being Wednesday – we’re going to do the whole darn thing all over again. Yep: here’s another exclusive vid, in the shape of progressive house epic ‘Cult’ …
We can rock out with the best of them here at BAMM.tv, as well as chilling out occasionally with some laid-back folk and Latino sounds. Sometimes, though, we get a hankering for some pulsing experimental electronica – and today is one of those days. Lucky for us, then (and you) that we can unleash an exclusive performance from Vancouver-based electro mastermind Bartel.
‘Snow On Black’ showcases everything that is great about Bartel – the thrilling fusion of electronic sounds and genres into a visceral aural odyssey. Trust us – this one is gonna take you out of this world …
Whatever you think of the upcoming 2012 Olympics – or indeed sport in general – you can’t help but admit that the whole event shares many of the aesthetic elements we like to associate with great music: communal euphoria, the ebb and flow of waves of excitement, guitar feedback deafening the spectators in the front row (okay, so maybe that last one is a little more specifically music-related…)
We’ve already taken an in-depth look at the relationship between music and the Olympics (and if you missed that article, by the way, it’s well worth checking out). Now we’re hoping to prove the above hypothesis by showcasing ‘Theme For Velodrome’ by The Chemical Brothers, one of the official Olympic anthems this year. It’s got the adrenaline rush of all the podium posturing in the world …
When you have a digital music collection consisting of thousands of artists, it can often seem like a hard task keeping track of the newest releases from each of them (unless we’re dealing with that Elvis guy, of course – something tells us he won’t have that many new albums in the pipeline. Not until the perfection of pop star cloning, at any rate). Sure, you could set a Google alert or something similar for every name stretching from Abba to Zappa, but that would be a hell of a lot of notifications to browse through over your morning coffee.
That’s where Sound Calendar – the intriguing new app from Harmonic – comes in. Either by letting it scan your iTunes library or by entering the names of artists manually, Sound Calendar will automatically keep you up to date on all the latest new releases from your musicians of choice, also allowing you to expand your musical horizons by discovering all sorts of related material too (side-projects, solo albums, collaborations etc).
In short – it’s like you have a personal servant who can look after that whole ‘internet browsing’ business for you, thereby granting you extra time to kick back and do the things you love. Y’know, like listening to great new music. Take a look:
Here at BAMM.tv, we’re not only dedicated to providing you with our own musical discoveries (although we’re pretty damn good at it, if we do say so ourselves) but we also like to use this blog-shaped mouthpiece to keep you posted on the latest developments from established artists we love. A lot of the time we’ll treat you to a pre-release stream of a single or album by just one artist …
… but sometimes days come along when an avalanche (album-lance?) of new material tumbles onto the internet at once. Today is one of those days, so rather than split things up we’re throwing everything together in one (a bit like that giant robot made of five others at the end of every Power Rangers episode) and providing you with a quick-stop solution to all your album preview needs.Circus-Large kids
ARCADE FIRE
Oh, what’s that? Only a new album announcement from one of the greatest bands in the world today. No concrete info as of yet, but the mere promise of a new collection of songs in 2013 should be enough to excite the most casual of fans. No word also as to whether the album will include ‘Abraham’s Daughter’ and ‘Horn Of Plenty’ (new tracks which featured on the soundtrack of ‘The Hunger Games’), but here they are for your enjoyment anyway:
THE XX
Their self-titled debut album transformed from being the sleeper hit of late 2009 to the ubiquitous indie sound of early 2010. Now it seems that they’re all set to pull off another massive hit with their upcoming album ‘Co-exist’, scheduled to hit the racks on September 10th of this year – and today the band posted their brand new video ‘Angels’ to their Facebook page. Here it is …
GREEN DAY
They blossomed from the snotty-nosed new-punk troublemakers we all used to love as teenagers to stadium-playing goliaths with their 2004 ‘American Idiot’ album. 2009’s ’21st Century Breakdown’ was a massive seller but didn’t quite have the same cultural impact, so let’s see if their upcoming trilogy of new albums (yep, you read that right) “¡Uno!,” “¡Dos!” and “¡Tres!” puts them back on top. New single ‘Oh Love’ gives a taste of the trademark power-pop we can expect in September …
We’ve been dropping weekend treats your way quite regularly of late – last Saturday and Sunday saw two new BAMM In-Depth features to get your teeth into, and today we’re unleashing a great live performance from the wonderful Sol Pereya, whose sultry vocals and lilting guitar melodies make her a fantastic addition to our ever-growing BAMM Latino imprint. This is an exclusive (needless to say, really) rendition of ‘Te Fuiste’ – something which will add a ray of Saturday sunshine to your day, wherever in the world you happen to be …
