It’s exciting times for fans of millennial hardcore rockers ‘At The Drive In’ (a sector of musical appreciation which BAMM is happy to include itself in). First came the news, earlier this year, that the band were to reform for both the Coachella festival and a series of upcoming gigs.
Now? Now The Mars Volta – awesome group led by Drive-In alumni Cedric Bixler-Zavala and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, who take the punk vibrancy of ATDI and filter it through all manner of prog-rock madness – are to unleash their new album ‘Noctourniquet’. Never the type to reign in their ambitions, they’ve crafted a series of songs which take their direct inspiration from thousands of years of popular mythologies – from the legends of Ancient Greece to the modern-day pop-culture heroics of Superman.
The album itself is due for release on March 26th. If, however, you’d like to listen to the whole thing before anyone else (go on, treat yourself – it’s Friday), then the good people at Rolling Stone have got it covered.
