‘Knock It Loose’ – our exclusive feature length doc on The Soft White Sixties!

Posted on: No Comments

We’re almost insanely proud to feature San Francisco rockers The Soft White Sixties as our Featured Artist. If you haven’t checked out our essential introduction to the band, you can do that right here. Seriously. We can wait. Go on.

Back already? Great. Hopefully that’s put you in the mood for the acres of exclusive stuff BAMM.tv and The Soft White Sixties have got coming your way in the next week or two … including today! ‘Knock It Loose’ is a real gem from the BAMM.tv archives – shot in December 2011, it’s a fascinating feature-length documentary which follows the boys (then a five-piece) on their first ever West Coast tour. We’d compiled all the episodes below into one amazing playlist, for your viewing pleasure. Yeah, we know, we’re too good to you sometimes.

Expect rock and roll, burritos, beer, fireworks and all sorts of general mischief. Enjoy!

Hope you’re enjoying our season of cool stuff from our Featured Artist Thao & The Get Down Stay Down – and we really hope you’ll keep your beady eyes on BAMM.tv towards the end of this week, when we’ll be unveiling an exclusive competition to win some personalised merchandise from the band themselves!

In the meantime, we’ve got something else very cool to share – we asked lead singer Thao Nyugen to pick her five favorite performances from the sprawling (and awesome, and amazing, and exclusive, and numerous other descriptive terms) BAMM.tv archives. Here are her choices:

Will Sprott – A Dog Will Love You When Nobody Else Will

A dog will indeed love you when no-one else will. Unless of course they’re those hell hounds from the end of Ghostbusters. You want to avoid those.

BAMM.tv exclusive: ‘Hey Big Bang’, The Superhumanoids

Posted on: No Comments

Seeing as the multiplexes have been clogged up with infinite numbers of superhero movies these past few years, you’d be forgiven for thinking that The Superhumanoids was a brand new film full of mindless explosions and headache-inducing 3D effects. Well: not only would you be wrong, but you’d be denying yourself the opportunity to check out a great band. The Superhumanoids are a Los-Angeles-based quartet whose mission statement is to create music which ‘kisses the doldrums away’. It’s a mission they’re evidently succeeding in, as you can see in the video above: an exclusive performance of ‘Hey Big Bang’, taken from our SXSW showcase archives.

And if you want more of these guys (who wouldn’t?), SF locals can swing by Cafe Du Nord on Sep 3 – next Monday – to experience ‘em in the flesh.

BAMM.tv exclusive: ‘In And Out’, A B & The Sea

Despite hailing from Wisconsin,
there’s a definite streak of Sunshine State joy running through this rocking five-piece – something which only intensified following their move to California in 2009, and has been building ever since, leading up to the release of this year’s debut LP ‘Constant Vacation’ (available to buy September 5, and available to stream for free right here).

Before you check out those links, however, you really should take a look at this great – and exclusive – performance of ‘In And Out’, taken from the epic SXSW showcases we wheeled out last year. And if that still hasn’t satiated your live fix, lucky SF locals can catch them at Popscene at The Rickshaw Stop this Thursday!

How do Con Brio manage to combine their expert grasp of funk, soul, jazz and blues into a simmering whole and make it all seem so effortless? We’re stumped. Hopefully you’ll be similarly amazed when you check out this killer impromptu performance of ‘Thank Ya’, shot while on the road to SXSW 2011 and dragged out of the BAMM archives ‘classic’ folder for your enjoyment.

Aaaaand if you’re a San Francisco local, you can catch these fellow San Francisco locals at The Mezzanine this Friday. Details can be found here.
